I enjoy working with staff and volunteers to carry out the day-to-day work of the church. There’s a special joy in helping people find the work that feeds them and uses their gifts. I work to help ensure that both staff and key volunteers have the tools and support to do their work well. This may take the form of creating job descriptions, hiring or recruiting the right person for a particular role, developing a staff covenant, crafting and implementing policies, or putting together training and team-building retreats for ministry teams.
Operations are guided by the mission, vision, covenant and strategic plan of the church. Program and position goals are then aligned to those core documents. While we are serious about making a difference, we have a lot of fun too, and celebrate together along the way.
I count myself lucky to have entered the vocation of ministry with a depth of experience in non-profit leadership, from staff management and fund development to leading change. Those skills carried right over into the church setting. I enjoy developing people and projects, keeping communication flowing throughout the organization, and fostering a coordinated effort as we fulfill our mission.
